Grandparents’ Rights
Michigan Grandparents’ Rights
We understand that grandparents play a unique role in the life of a child. Michigan has recognized grandparents’ rights in certain circumstances. When a child’s parents are in the process of divorce, have completed a divorce, separation or annulment, or when a parent of a child is deceased, grandparents may seek a grandparenting time order. Grandparents may also receive an order for grandparenting time where a child does not live with either parent, or where a child has lived with a grandparent during the year prior to the order.
